The Jackson County prosecutor has charged advertising exec Mike Alexander with one count of possession of child pornography.
Alexander lives in Brookside. He's 43.
A probable cause statement claims an ex-girlfriend complained to police that Alexander had taken videos of her in the nude without her consent. Police searched the place, and allegedly found five surveillance cameras, plus DVDs, video, and, again allegedly, child porn on a computer.
Last Thursday Alexander hosted a campaign event for mayoral candidate John Fairfield. His campaign has now "sequestered" close to $1000 raised at that reception.
That's according to Enrique A. Chaurand, Fairfield's campaign manager.
"These are very serious charges, and we take them very seriously," Chaurand said. "We had no indication of any legal trouble (with Alexander) whatsoever."
Chaurand says the campaign is prepared to return the campaign money to the 20-25 people who attended Thursday's fundraiser at Alexander's home, if needed. "We hope these allegations aren't true," Chaurand said.
Fairfield is out of town and can't be reached, according to his office.

Fairfield out of town and can't be reached? That lie is an insult to anyone with half a brain. How convenient. Even if he knows nothing about these allegations, he at least owes his potential voters something besides this lie of "can't be reached". We can all be reached, give us a break.

Fairfield sure can pick his friends down south. We in the north already know him and how he picks his freinds. He has allegations of his own to deal with and now this. Not a good start Johnny boy.

I know at least three people who have talked to Fairfield this week while he's vacationing at Walt Disney World with his family. Too bad the press doesn't have his cell phone number. Yeah, right.
