FIRST!

Good riddance.

theres no man more boring in kansas city than the
idiot who has no class...mike shannin.....his
stupid remarks and his lies and misrepresentations
make him a perfect fit for the station that runs
the drug addict limbaugh. this will kill their
station....cant we find anyone besides a washed up/
lying/worn out/totally stupid/old hack like shannin...
theres got to be some new talent because shannin
is so booooooring he could make the entire audience
go to sleep......please...please...find someone else
who has a brain and some intelligence...shannin is
old/washed up/outdated and needs a lobotomy.

I cannot wait for the day when everyone at the Republican propaganda machines am radio stations across the country are looking for employment.

Mike is a "voice" and not an intellectual. He hails from the old school where "voices" read the news.

So, Kenny are you confirming that one of the Dems agenda item is to shut down talk radio since they can't seem to get sufficient listeners to Democrat mouthpieces to keep them on air.

Down with free speech, Vote Democrat.

Exactly Kenny, they only like free speech when they agree with it. Just like when they throw pies and shout down conservatives when they are giving speeches. The left is the biggest threat to civil liberties in this country!

Sorry to hear about Jerry leaving. I normally liked his comments, but he was a little rude to callers at times. That kept me from calling in with a comment that might contradict his stand. HOORAY for Mike Shanin. He is thoughtful, insightful and obviously wise beyond billybob's years.

does anyone know where Russ Johnson went? Just wondering.
Agar was totally predictable. Topic in, conservative twist, topic out.
I wish him luck as he has kids, but good grief, I am happy for the change. Perhaps Shannin will just be a temporary replacement. Heck the drive at five spot is always temporary....

Jerry Agar was almost a libertarian voice in the wilderness. He just had an awful bias for the war in Iraq and could not get by that.

Shanin is a hard over "Republicans can do no wrong" guy. So now I might start listening to Sean Hannity on the way home. He is equally hard over Republican but he is more entertaining.

Jerry was great and I wish him luck. It's amazing how the Dems/libs can't stand to have people around that point out where they are wrong. Yes he was hard on some people, but he's a talk show host, not a Kleenex sales rep.

Hire Van Patrick from KCMO! He was an entertainer not a political hack.

Jerry will be missed. All the Mike Shanin haters, shut up. Mike has more intelligence in one brain cell than you do in your whole body. You seem to be threatened by a seasoned professional rooted in deeply held beliefs. Anyone you can't argue with, you see as a threat, so you try to belittle him. Get lost.

FINALLY! Agar was an idiot who is rude to anyone who disagrees.
I vote for Van Patrick!!!!!!!!

Best news I have heard all day.

I love this post at 9:42 "You seem to be threatened by a seasoned professional rooted in deeply held beliefs. Anyone you can't argue with, you see as a threat, so you try to belittle him. Get lost."

That is funny because that is exactly what Agar did. If a caller disagreed with Agar, he would talk over them, shout them down, or hang up on them. We need a bit more professionalism than that. He is a Limbaugh wannbe who has not figured out that you outduel and win discussion with relevance, not rudeness.

Maybe they could put boortz in his place?

I like Paul Van Sickle, not Van Patrick. He is on mornings on 1030 am. Its pretty good if you like Gospel music.

Here's an idea...

How about TURNING OFF THE RADIO?

All the political talk radio shows in Kansas City are worthless. They are just a bunch of over-the-top Right Wing clowns who pander to the stupid by endlessly screaming baseless (and factless) drivel like:

1. Bush is being persecuted by evil liberals who hate America - it's not his fault that he went to war on faulty intelligence!
2. Gay people are coming to "convert" your children - it's all part of the homo-liberal agenda!
3. Poor people only have themselves to blame for being poor - they should stop being lazy and get a THIRD job and stop asking for handouts from hard working (i.e. insanely wealthy) Americans.

And when those idiotic talking points don't work, just blame the problem on one of the following people:
1. Ted Kennedy
2. Al Gore
3. Bill Clinton
4. Hillary Clinton
5. Michael Moore

Seriously... just turn the talk radio babble off. It's not good for your brain.
Go read a book.

NO sh*t chris, I'm with you on this one!!!

I suspect that his gig at WABC-77 in New York (right after his KC show) pays him a whole hell of a lot more than KMBZ does.

I suspect Shanin/Parks will be interim filler for a while, much like Shanin was for the month after Becka went to Omaha until Agar came to the morning show a few years ago. (Omaha is still mad at us for dumping Becka on them). I don't know who's going to end up filling that slot personally, but whoever it is will likely be a damn sight better than Savage over on KCMO. KMBZ did a smart thing by dropping Savage.

Politics aside, Agar ran a decent radio show, which is probably what got the attention of WABC - This is, after all, where Limbaugh and Hannity and a host of others started out.

Whatever. I ditched commercial radio crud for XM/Air America two years ago and only tune in locally to KCUR.

Shanin's a brown-nosing right-wing apologist. How refreshing and unique on K.C. talk radio. I can't miss them if they won't go away!

Here's why democrats are losers.. John Edwards attacks Wal-Mart for not paying employees enough, then has a book signing at a bookstore where they pay their employees even LESS than Wal-Mart.

John Kerry rants about the environment gas hog SUV's, yet his wife owns one!

Al Gore (Father of the Internet), preaches that the earth will be uninhabitable in the near future, yet spews more polution from his jet than 1000 normal people would in a year.

Politics is like TV. And this country just changed the channel from FOXNEWS to the COMEDY CHANNEL starring the democrats.

shannin got kicked out of more jobs than any other
announcer...he's borrrrring.
he has nothing new to say...just recites the conservative
lingo...he makes so many statistical mistakes...has the
intelligence level of a child and he really brings
no new ideas to the table...as a moderator he also is
terrible...he just offers nothing new in facts or
talk.....why would a station put him on...because they
too have no sense of what people want to hear...
also...entercom is getting new heads so kmbz better pick
it up fast or they willb e out on the street like the
last boss entercom had....

Those to the right LOVE KMBZ and it's even more rightward tilt -- the morning show used to be informative, entertaining and fairly balanced; that has changed with Scott Parks taking more control, and there is a decidedly more socially conservative tone. With the revolving door is similar to other markets -- I don't read anything into anyone coming or going. I listen to some shows on occasion, but when I find myself always cheering and never thinking things through or questioning either my motives or someone else's agenda -- then I know it's time to take a step back. Conservatives are not destroying our country, and Liberals are not akin to terrorist sympathiziers. We're Americans and we're all in this together -- enjoy the differences between us, just don't view them as so horrible as to demonize each other.
