Thanks, Dave. But did you mean November instead of September?

Jeff:
No. The latest figures available come from the Oct. 15 filing, which closes Sept. 30.

Speaking of the "mayors"....seems the big "Cats" at city hall are going to be away for a bit...gives the mice some time to play.
Seems the Mayor, and City Manager, are off to the UK in hopes of receiving some award...in competition with Calcutta, Manchester, and ???--Paris maybe??

Why does Becky Nace have a dog image next to her name on her home page? I notice its on her contribution page also, so it must be some sort of symbol of hers. What's the connection? Seems like an odd choice for a political symbol.
Posted by: chris | December 04, 2006 at 04:29 PM
Is it a female dog? If so, maybe the connection is that other word for female dog.
(Of course with Jeff Roe running her campaign, a more appropriate symbol might be a steamin' pile of doggie doo. ... Becky had an excellent chance of getting my vote until she hitched her political wagon to a sleaze-meister like Roe.)

Becky has had a long history of working on animal issues. She used to do (and maybe still does) a program on KCCG-TV where she would show which pets were available for adoption at KC's animal control. She has pushed for years for capital improvements dollars for the animal control building finally securing some funding last year but still only about 1/4 of what's truly needed there. I think she MAY (not sure) have been involved in the development of the off leash park.
I'm not saying I will or won't vote for her for Mayor but am suggesting that might be why she has the dog icon.

Has anyone been to Funkhouser's website recently? Click on "Mayoral Supporters" and the number of names on the list has gone WAY down since the day he announced. I wish I had a copy of the longer list to compare the current list to.

I don't think Mark has lost but one supporter - I hope people listen to what he has to say, I think he may be our best bet.
Posted by: | December 04, 2006 at 05:42 PM
Well, for your information Mr/Ms Second...some of those who were on the first list are still very active, simply don't want their phone numbers listed for the obvious reasons--anti "funk fairy" prankster calls. One in particular is very active. Don't kid yourself, there is a growing number of supporters beyond even Funks expectation for this stage of the game. His party on Sat. night was unbelievable in the so called "grass roots" support that came out.
You can try to plant all the negative innuendo that you want, but there is a growing push for a candidate that isn't bought and paid for by the usual sycophants that try to get in the light of the power or figure heads. Mark is the promise for getting beyond "business as usual" at city hall. You might as well get used to it. All the dirty tricks in the world are not going to derail this train--it has already left the station!!
As for the doggy park..Ms. Nace was in the loop, but the whole thing started with a few dog lovers and a Briard named Ophelia and some of her friends who went to the real power at city hall and got it done!!

Is Becky Nance running for mayor because her bankroll says count me out and beleive me Jeff Roe doesnt come cheap .
Posted by: | December 04, 2006 at 06:24 PM
I wonder what Becky's labor friends think of her hiring such a prominent Republian and anti-union consultant?
Posted by: | December 04, 2006 at 08:01 PM
Haven't you heard. Labor is playing ball with both Sam Graves and, especially, Jeff Roe.

WARREN G. HARDING FOR MAYOR!
YARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGH!
Posted by: Warren G. Harding | December 04, 2006 at 09:35 PM
wonder how much of katheryn shields $108,000 was stolen from the public coffers?
Posted by: cmarshalldavis | December 04, 2006 at 10:40 PM
I wasn't trying to plant any "negative innuendo". It was just something that caught my eye as I ran through each website link from Dave's original post. And the number of names that dropped off IS more than one.
I honestly haven't decided who I'm going to support for mayor. It might be Funkhouser. I'm certainly impressed that former Public Works director Ed Wolf is supporting him because I've always been deeply impressed with Ed.

Hm. Just $108,000 for Shields? Only $2,000 ahead of Brooks, which is just about how much she raised recently. Shields must have a "No Refund" policy because the line would stretch out the front of the Courthouse to the next county. Come on give the people what they want for a change. How about refunds on the www so people don't have to wait in line?

Didn't Jeff Roe just get his arse handed to him by Sean Spence in the auditor's race? (I think Sean was also slammed on Roe's blog--which is ironic given the results.)
Why should Roe command high dollars after that debacle?
Posted by: chris | December 05, 2006 at 08:13 AM
Roe's track record is one of sleaze, sleaze and then some dirty stuff. Maybee the KC Mayors race is a freebie since it will be so easy.
He can do it from Phoenix.

For some reason the media seems to think Al Brooks is well liked and can do no wrong. At the same time they say the Red Bridge folks could have a negative impact on Chuck Eddy's campaign. What they need to understand is that the Red Bridge folks know Al Brooks could put a stop to the project if he wanted to and that won't be forgotten come election time.
