Didn't Victor Callahans State Representative robot Terry Young turn Republican?
John Burnett supporting Funkhouser brings a total of...3 votes?

you can really tell who is "in the know" and who isn't. statements like this: "John Burnett supporting Funkhouser brings a total of...3 votes?" is obviously someone from another campaign here to cause trouble. anybody with a shread of reality knows Funkhouser is in this race making heads turn.

I can't think of a name but it could start of with that song..."we want the funk, gotta have the funk"

I'm glad funkhouser's campaign spends all their time blogging because we all know thats how you win campaigns. Maybe they should spend some time researching their candidate and getting prepared to defend Mark's audits that call for rediculous cuts in everything.

Fairfield for Dog Catcher!

Marman

As Funkhauser would drive KC into the ground with his cute quips and doggy talk and not really be able to actually fix Anything as he didnt fix anything in 18 years as a bean counter maybe the "show" would be KC -Stuck in a Funk", Anyone but Funk! Go EDDY, the candiate that is CURRENTLY DOING SOMETHING!!

He is the only candidate that I have heard say he needed to continue his day job cause he couldn't make it on the meager 56K a council person gets.

Of course that 56K a year is more than probably more than 80% of the people he will need to vote for him. Do you think the people making less than 56k can feel his pain?

Marman

Of course that 56K a year is more than probably more than... wow you word smith. What is the source that quotes Eddy on that statment? or is this just something that bugs the heck out of you and your 25K a year life. A good politician can't be thrilled with council money, they had better be more involved their job and working for the people, like Eddy then thinnkung that council money makes thir life better. Most every council member has a business or job that they balance their city work with. Think about what anyone of the people do and try to thank them, good or bad ecuase the money ain't great

You know Funkhouser's candidacy is doing well because anything he does, no matter how simple, brings out childlish criticism from people who want nothing but to discredit him.
Have no fear, Funk. I've polled everyone on my block and you have our vote.
And no . . . I don't work for the campaign. Funk can't afford a big staff since the establishment is giving their money to anybody but him.

Who is State Representative John Burnett? Better yet who cares who he endorses? Better yet is he spending taxpayers money on the newsletters?

Blogotics

The F Clan should really consider calling one another more often rather than discussing their love on the blogs. Of course it is Valentines Day. Too bad CMR won't discuss the proposed budget cuts that Funkenstein is proposing. I think it is interesting that a candidate would want to cut medical funding for Children and other needy people in this city. Don't give me the line of "He wants to get back to the basics" for the city. Several of the candidates in this race have proposed legitimate plans for fixing streets and controlled spending so don't throw it out like it is a novel idea.

I have a good name idea, how about FUNK OFF.

JUNK

You can't tell me that there isn't a serious problem when the city isn't willing to present their budget to the public on the day that it has historically been given to the council and made public. It isn't going to be "shared" until after the primary. Strange!!??

What does the administration not want seen or known prior to the election? I would imagine that those on the council who are candidates don't want to be associated due to their complicity in allowing things to evolve into this morass.

Hmmmmm I guess it might be politics. If they release the budget Funk Offs everywhere will just critisize every detail and not offer solutions. I can see them all now texting, IMs, Blogging (all while ordering there Star Trek gear for the next COMICON convention).

guy

10:57 you seem to know more about this star trek mess than anyone else. you would rather play the political game than have a little more transparency in government-I guess that is understandable when so many of you other campaigns are in the fight of your lives to make it to the general.

10:57, you know darn good and well that it is politics, plain and simple.

I don't deny that I have become a "Funkette" and until some of the bloggers supporting others can post something meaty about their choice, as opposed to vilifying Funkhouser, then I am not going to change my mind. I received something bashing Funk that only further inspired me to support him.

As for offering solutions, if you listen and go to his website, there are answers to most all of these things in question.

I agree with a previous comment, it is going to get nasty now that he is #1 in the Star's opinion and also in the polls of some of the other candidates.

When he was running for city council, Chuck Eddy said it was a part time job and that' how he intended to keep it. While that may be what the charter says, his part time efforts are why he hasn't gotten anything done for the sixth district in 8 years. I wonder what will happen to the City with a part time mayor.

I have heard from several different people who have dealt with Funk that he is hard to get along with. Who needs a mayor like that?

Sloopy65

I know Funk on both a personal and professional basis, and I can tell you this; he's a serious guy when it comes to his work. He is going to tell you the truth, even if it doesn't fit into the framework you want it to fit into. However, I'd say "hard to get along with" is really, really not true. He's just not a player, not an a** kisser, not a "work the room" kind of guy. He's there to do his job, he takes it seriously, and that's it. He is extremely personable...it's just that he's not interested in cocktail party invites. Not to say he isn't any fun...I can personally verify that he can kick up his heels with the best of them. Thankfully, he's no frat boy.

Sloopy 65, you do know the Funk. He isn't a frat boy as you say. He is here in this life to get the job done for you and me. He WILL get the job done and surrounds himself with the people who know how to communicate and work with all of us. It has been a rewarding experience volunteering and working with him getting up to the primary. I can't wait for the next round.

Funkhouser may have a good message, but the way he delivers it is very very poor. I think he sounds so hostile and intolerant of others ideas. I hope he doesn't win. Not an appealing figure.

Why is there no questioning of the Mayor calling big contractors, and other city movers and shakers together to let only Brooks give them the old status quo drivel today? It is the true story of the use of fear tactics. They are convinced that the golden trough, any trough, is going to dry up. Is this not biased for a mayor to do?
Especially on city time when she is doing the citizen's business, all of our business.

They aren't too concerned about our piling up debt and the wobbly situation we are in right now.
I really do find it inapproriate to use her time, which is MY time, to promote only one of the mayors. I am also quite unhappy that she is using the city's channel 2 to counter Funkhouser's platform. Also, wouldn't that expensive promotional piece on her, disguised as a composite of her time at the hall, be a bit inappropriate also?
