Demo U.S. Senate candidate Claire McCaskill defied leaders of both parties today, saying the search of Louisiana Congressman William Jefferson's Capitol Hill office was A-OK.
McCaskill, a former Jackson County prosecutor, noted that the judicial branch approved the search warrant.
"The House leadership and members of Congress of both parties should step aside and let our criminal justice system do its work," the Missourian said in a statement.
"This incident underlines the failure of our elected representatives in Washington to police themselves. Their fake ethics legislation must be replaced with real ethics reform including an independent review board as I have called for in my comprehensive ethics proposal."
