The Big 12 basketball tournaments -- the men's and women's -- are apparently on their way back to Kansas City.
Kay Barnes is expected to announce (at 11:00 a.m.) that the tourney will return to the Sprint Center in 2008.
It won't be a big surprise but it will be official.
More to come at kansascity.com -- The Star -- and KC Buzz Blog... plus video later this morning!

Does this vindicate all of us who got out the vote for the arena, or will that take an NHL or NBA franchise? It seems to me that, without one of those tenents, this announcement signifies that the arena has stopped the hemmorhage of major events from KC. That's good enough for me.

Nope, the only thing that will do that is if the concrete albatross doesn't cause taxpayers pockets to hemorrhage hard earned money for needed services, to the entertainment of a few people. Since it has never happened before, I don't think I'd hold my breath waiting for a pat on the back. These "attractions" do not increase revenue, they shift it around and line the pockets of a few people at the expense of many more.
