Another Monday, another day of laughs at the Jackson County Legislative Chambers.
But hey, news flash, some were intentional today!
Legislators were looking for Katheryn Shields' latest Guy Friday, Art Chaudry, to give a report. He was out in the lobby confabbing and missed his chance. But in walked in Mr. Shields, aka attorney Phil Cardarella, and Legislator Dan Tarwater couldn't resist a chance to needle the man some say plays a big role in county government.
"Maybe Phil knows!" Tarwater shouted out to Cardarella's simultaneous bemusement and confusion.
And how could a legislative meeting pass without the requisite ribbing between Legislators Fred Arbanas and Bob Spence. Arbanas pointed out a profile of Spence in a recent county newsletter obviously included a younger picture of Spence and even managed to catch him smiling genuinely!
Then Arbanas unexpectedly turned serious and lavished praise on Spence that can only be counted as an endorsement in the August primary. Arbanas, the legendary legislator who is unopposed, said Spence has brought invaluable knowledge to the county and there's nothing like "having your own CPA sitting" beside you. The unexpected part comes in that Arbanas is a Democrat and Spence is a Republican....
