You know that headline just really sucks--were you going for the comedic turn or the wingnut pat on the back? I guess when you don't have to pass this stuff by the same editors as you do the newspaper editors then this is what you get. And not the first time, I'm afraid.

Somehow I guess we needed to know what she was wearing too.

Why no thread on the Ford funeral where Kit Bond's looks make it appear he is a heavy drinker and Bob Dole has had plastic surgery?

If that is what she said, why isn't it a good headline?

FarRight

Agree on what she was wearing. Why do we always get the low-down of that day's dress? Like we wake up saying, gee I hope Claire wears the pearls and red shoes today.

If that is so important why don't you note what David Gregory was wearing?

Claire Fan

More importantly she answered the way Missouri & the Nation feel about the War in Iraq - get the heck out of there.

Go Claire. She is going to be a great Senator!!

"Bush Claims Right to Open Mail"

"By Dan Froomkin
Special to washingtonpost.com

"The New York Daily News today reports on a signing statement President Bush quietly issued two weeks ago, in which he asserts his right to open mail without a warrant.

Signing statements have historically been used by presidents mostly to explain how they intend to enforce the laws passed by Congress; Bush has used them to quietly assert his right to ignore those laws.

James Gordon Meek writes about the latest: "President Bush has quietly claimed sweeping new powers to open Americans' mail without a judge's warrant, the New York Daily News has learned.

"The President asserted his new authority when he signed a postal reform bill into law on Dec. 20. Bush then issued a 'signing statement' that declared his right to open people's mail under emergency conditions.

"That claim is contrary to existing law and contradicted the bill he had just signed, say experts who have reviewed it

"Most of the Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act deals with mundane reform measures. But it also explicitly reinforced protections of first-class mail from searches without a court's approval."

The signing statement said, in part:

"The executive branch shall construe subsection 404(c) of title 39, as enacted by subsection 1010(e) of the Act, which provides for opening of an item of a class of mail otherwise sealed against inspection, in a manner consistent, to the maximum extent permissible, with the need to conduct searches in exigent circumstances, such as to protect human life and safety against hazardous materials, and the need for physical searches specifically authorized by law for foreign intelligence collection."

"She was wearing a primarily white jacket with dark trim and pearls."

Well thanks for that tidbit. Forget what she thinks about the issues ... WHAT IS SHE WEARING?

Absolute drivel. You should be ashamed.

Personally, I think we should subject the males Representatives to the same scrutiny as the females. I know I would view it as extremely important to know if my Congressman's tie matched his socks!

Bush being stupid? Bush spending lives to try to get off the hook for his pathetic planning? Now tha rumor is on the radio that he will propose a "mini-surge" in troops strength. Like THAT will help.

I think all Bush wants to do is to hang on in Iraq until he can make it the next President's problem.

What was David Gregory wearing?

What was Hillary Clinton or Obama wearing? I really, really need to know this--such journalism.

Hey Claire, we're still waiting for the gas prices to go back up like you said they would after the election. Last I looked it was $1.99/gal and oil below $56/barrel. I guess you foiled their plan.

Ed Friedemann

You must not be married to a woman.

2pokes

I am married to a woman. I'm just not married to a conspiracy kook, panderer like Claire.

why are you giving claire such a hard time already? I am sure she is still unpacking her boxes and putting her freshly sharpened pencils in her pencil cup.
As far as Katheryn Shields...I can't wait. I hope she gets prison time. Karma is a good thing....

kchest

If Katheryn Shields gets jail time, Mike Sanders will still have to get the mural at the Courthouse re-painted.

Wonder how much it will cost to paint on an ornage jumpsuit???
